The 2019 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition has come to a close, with a string player counted among its 11 winners. Violinist Samuel Vargas, a student at Columbus State University from Acarigua-Araure, Venezuela, has taken home the honor. Winners are invited to participate in a weeklong celebration, which includes professional workshops and a performance opportunity. He and the other winners will also receive support from the Yamaha artist-relations team. Applicants submitted audition recordings and support materials, which were then evaluated by a panel of musicians and Yamaha performing artists.
