On March 20, members of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra got together (virtually!) to record “the moment” from the last movement of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony—you know, the part where the chorus comes in—and the resulting video posted above is, unsurprisingly, emotional.
Simply titled, “From us, for you,” the four-minute video shows 18 musicians playing together, likely with headphones giving them a metronome to follow, to support the glorious choral entrance (which is pre-recorded). It’s already the most-viewed video by far on orchestra’s YouTube page, with nearly 650,000 views as we write this.

The joy on the faces of musicians is palpable and contagious. It’s hard not to smile while watching and hearing this performance, and it’s a great pick-me-up for those who need one (which, let’s be honest, is pretty much all of us right now). There’s also a link to donate to The Netherlands’ nonprofit Senior Service in the video description.
