With its sleek sable design and gently curved diamond cutouts, Pirastro’s KorfkerRest Luna is evocative of a little black dress for the upper strings—a chic and pragmatic accessory. The company has recently released a version for the viola, designed with ergonomic comfort, adaptability, and sound integrity in mind.

A click system allows the player to adjust the KorfkerRest Luna to fit both the instrument and its corresponding shoulder. Foldable and compact, the Luna for viola is made of a composite polymer material and weighs 40 grams, making it the lightest shoulder rest for the instrument on the market, according to Pirastro. Rubber feet and foam pads are meant to offer the player comfort and confidence. Given the size range represented by the viola, this KorfkerRest Luna was designed to fit instruments with a lower-bout width of 222–258 mm.
