Online auction house Tarisio is dedicating the proceeds of its May auction to musician relief, donating all commissions to those affected by COVID-19, in individual grants of $600 each. They expect the sale to bring in about $100,000 in commissions. The grants will be awarded to musicians worldwide on a lottery basis, and all professional musicians with a music degree in violin, viola, or cello are encouraged to apply.
Instruments by Fagnola, Bisiach, and Capicchioni are already committed to the sale, and Tarisio has announced the auction “will feature 10–20 exceptional instruments by known, collectible makers.” The auction will, of course, be an online affair, and Tarisio will be offering “virtual alternatives” to the usual in-person viewings.

Important dates: The sale ends on May 1, and its catalog will post online on April 15. The deadline for musicians wishing to apply for a grant is April 25. Grants will be announced on May 7 and disbursed on May 31.
