String playing is the greatest. And is here to support you and the string world with fantastic content (like this story!) If you like what we do, please make a donation to support our work and keep the site running.

In an effort spearheaded by cellist Cameron Chiu, a student at the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy for pre-college musicians, 24 students from 12 countries contributed to this video of Saint-Saëns’ “The Swan” from the Carnival of the Animals. Titled, naturally, The Swan Project, Chui intended this video to serve “as a comfort during these bleak times.”

“When life gets rough,” Chui writes in the description, “I always resort to music first.” Take a moment to enjoy this piece, which “harnesses simplicity and beauty in a language that speaks directly to the soul.”
