The Ensō String Quartet has announced Yura Lee as its new first violinist. Lee will replace founding violinist Maureen Nelson, who has accepted a position with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
Lee, an Avery Fisher Career Grant winner and festival-circuit regular, will begin performing with the quartet during the 2016-17 season.
“I am so excited to be joining the Ensō String Quartet,” Lee says. “The string quartet repertoire is some of the most incredible, most emotionally moving, and most satisfying music to play and hear.”
Lee is eager to join her quartet members, violinist Ken Hamao, violist Melissa Reardon, and cellist Richard Belcher: “I feel very lucky that I get to spend time with, and explore this music with Ken, Melissa, and Richard. They are some of the most amazing musicians and people that I have been fortunate enough to know; each of them is unique and awe-inspiring.”
