Album Round Up: Escher Quartet, Brooklyn Rider, Hot Club of Cowtown & More

Fiddler Martin Hayes joins the genre-pushing quartet Brooklyn Rider on a 12-track release The Butterfly. Many of the tracks are arranged by Brooklyn Rider violinist Colin Jacobson and violist Nicholas Cords. (In a Circle Records)

Violist Viacheslav Dinerchteins two-disc album Mieczyslaw Weinberg Complete Sonatas for Solo Viola commemorates Weinberg’s centennial with a 90-minute recording of his four sonatas for viola. The liner notes include rare, historical photographs, an essay by Weinberg expert David Fanning, and a first-hand explanation by Dinerchtein of his motivation to record these works. (Sony Music)


On the violin-bass-guitar trio Hot Club of Cowtown’s latest release Wild Kingdom, the members are joined by three special guests: drummer Damien Llanes, pianist Joe Kerr, and tabla/percussionist Oliver Rajamani.
