New Law for Stringed-Instrument Shipping Goes into Effect April 1
On April 1, “all shipments of imported pianos and other stringed instruments (guitars and violins, for example) will have to be accompanied by a declaration listing, among other things, the scientific name (genus and species) of all wood and other plant material used in the imported product, as well as the country of origin of the wood,” according to NAMM (the National Association of Music Merchants). On March 15, NAMM will present a free “webinar”—an online video conference that is streamed live from its website—to discuss the new Lacey Act regulation. namm.org/public-affairs/articles/namm-produce-lacey-act-webinar
